The stupidity of FedEx

I have a package ordered to be delivered to my home address in California via FedEx 2nd Day Delivery.  It is difficult for me to grasp the absurdity in having to use the most inefficient delivery route to ensure the "2 day" delivery time.

As can be seen, it was originally picked up in Utah on the 28th, roughly two states away from California.  But today on the 30th at 4:24 am, it is in Tennessee, a state further East than Texas and close enough to Chicago that I should've placed an online order for Gino's East Chicago-style pizza.  I am further flabbergasted by the fact that the FedEx tracking site states the package will be delivered to my house by 7 pm today.

So the package took more than 24 hours to get from Utah to Tennesee, and I should expect it to arrive at my doorstep in California by sometime tonight?

Wow.

W T F.

Talk about literally ensuring a two-day delivery as paid for.  I bet if I purchased FedEx 2Day delivery for an item a couple miles from my location, it will take exactly 2 days to deliver.

Edit:  At 1:00 pm currently, it is now in Los Angeles.  Wow.  Talk about such a waste of fuel.
