Losing weight and gaining it back

Since starting in late April, I've been diligently inputting the calories and fat of food I ate into this iPad app called MyNetDiary.  It is a diet management app where you set how much you want to lose, when you want to lose it by, the type of lifestyle you have, and so forth to determine just how many calories you can take in on a daily basis to meet your target weight.  No iPad no worries because you can use their web-based interface to input foods into your very own "diary" too.  Of course, it doesn't have the user-intuitive design as the iPad app.

Come September and I managed to lose about 30 pounds, however it is October now and I haven't been able to lose much.  Of course, this is mostly attributed to the fact that I've become lazy and haven't been inputting my daily food intake nor my weight data on a routine basis.  Sometimes it gets to the point where panda just feels the need to eat.  Eat a lot.  Again.  So come October and I've been losing 3-4 pounds here, gaining it back, lose 6 pounds, gain it back, lose another 4 pounds, etc.

I suppose a major factor in me gaining the weight back is my need for the type of diet I had before starting the diet regimen.  This consisted mostly of Carls Jr., pizza hut, hot dogs, and the occasional salad.  However, despite the high caloric intake of such foods, I never had difficulty maintaining my weight.   Losing the weight on the other hand and having to adjust to a new set point / set weight is difficult, especially when at my current weight right now I belong in a different BMI category.  My metabolism is just off.

The zookeeper probably desires a fat panda.  What is cute about a skinny panda?  Not much.  Just black and white.  Easy poop target.  But in all seriousness, losing the weight is nice.  It feels good to be able to wear fitted clothing again without looking too round in all areas.  Perhaps all zookeepers should start losing weight too.
